Well, as you no doubt have heard, COVID-19, the 'coronavirus' has pretty much shut things down in the USA. NBA, NHL, MLB, March Madness, etc. are all suspended. Most Youth Soccer clubs have suspended operations, training, and matches until further notice.
What to do with that spare time?
Well, you could take a ball out to a wall (by yourself, of course.....maybe with a friend, but no more people) and kick (i.e., work on your 'ball at feet' skills) the ball off of the wall. Also, you could throw (i.e., work on your catching skills) the ball off of the wall and catch. All of this will help you, A. Pass the time. and, B. Improve your basic Goalkeeping skills.
Now. The COVID-19 virus is BAD. DO NOT do anything without the permission of your parents and/or your Doctor. But if everything works out, this might be a great opportunity to do some (overdue) Goalkeeper "Homework".
Remember, every little bit helps in your overall GK development. Always look for opportunities to get better....as a GK AND a person. Do what your parents and the medical professionals say: Wash your hands often. Cough or sneeze into the crook of your arm, or a kleenex. Drink plenty of water (always). If at all possible, spend some time with a ball and a wall, and if parents and Doctors say it's OK....1 (ONE) friend. (Like in the Picture. Thanks soccercoachweekly.net!)
May the ground beneath your dive be soft. May the goalposts be 3 feet wide. May the other team shoot everything right at you. And may you come through this pandemic safe and healthy.
All the Best--EV
